We were delighted to welcome many guests, including members and community partners who joined us at our branch on Thursday to celebrate International Credit Union Day! Among those were the Rt Revd Martyn Snow, Bishop of Leicester; Revd Alison Adams; Stephen Corrall, Lord Mayor of Leicester; Sue Waddington, Assistant Mayor of Leicester; David Wright, Mayor of Melton; Richard Allen, Mayor of Hinckley; David and Jan Gaskell, Mayor and Mayoress of Charnwood; Ian Clutton, Tenancy Sustainment Team Manager, ASRA Housing and representatives from LOROS.
The day was a huge success (see photos below) and was celebrated alongside credit unions all over the world to show appreciation to members, recognise the history of credit unions, promote their achievements and acknowledge the hard work of the people who work within the industry.
This year’s theme focused on The Authentic Difference and the team chatted to guests about the work of Clockwise in the local community, inviting those who were not already members, to join.
There was face painting and fun activities for the children who attended with some great competition prizes that were donated by local organisations. A raffle was held in the lead up to the event which was generously supported by our strategic partners and our members.
Joining fees were waived for those who joined on the day and the total of £730 was donated to LOROS at the end of the day.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended, our staff, volunteers and members.
Every year International Credit Union Day is celebrated around the world on the third Thursday in October since 1948. To find out more about the global credit union movement you can visit the World Council of Credit Unions website.
